Ed Sheeran, Britain's highest-earning musician, has invested £42 million in a property empire, including six flats rented to tenants in Hammersmith.

They are among a portfolio which reportedly also includes four houses in Suffolk, two flats near Shoreditch, three homes in Holland Park, two more in Chiswick and a house and restaurant in Notting Hill.

His tenants, however may not be aware of their celebrity connection, as Ed bought the flats and houses through his company Maverick Properties, which he set up four years ago with his manager Stuart Camp.

According to The Sun, the 28 year-old singer songwriter earned an atonishing £342 million in the last year.

Ed embarks in April on an international tour on a five month long international tour. When he is at home he and his wife Cherry split their time between their country house in Suffolk, nicknamed 'Sheeranville' and an eight bedroom home in Notting Hill.

His latest property purchase for Ed and manager Stuart is a site in Portobello Road, which was the home of Spanish restaurant Galicia. It is now being transformed into a 'cool, shabby-chic' live music bar/restaurant.

Ed is reportedly considering naming his new venture Castle on the Hill, the title of his mega hit about Framlingham Castle in the Suffolk town where he grew up.
