Found due to trackers fitted to camera equipment stolen in Barnes
Police have arrested five people who are suspected of theft after being led to an address in Hammersmith by a tracking device.
They were initially called to reports of an incident on Church Road in Barnes on the night of 21 July. Witnesses reported seeing three balaclava clad men breaking into a vehicle with a hammer. They took high value camera equipment and then cycled away.
Despite multiple police units searching the area, they were unable to locate the thieves but some of the property taken had trackers fitted.
This led them to Hammersmith where they found bikes matching the description of those used in the break in. Officers entered the property in the early hours and found stolen property inside including the missing cameras.
Four men and one woman inside the property were arrested on suspicion of offences related to the incident.
Officers were able to return the property to the rightful owners.
