Police say that an 18 year-old man was on the footway, near speaking to a 47 year-old woman.

As they stood talking, they were approached by a male suspect who threw a corrosive substance over the teenager. Some of the noxious substance also splashed onto the woman.

The suspect then ran off along Crabtree Lane and may have subsequently left the area on a moped that was parked on Bothwell Street. The suspect is described as a black male.

The victims were both taken to a west London hospital.

The woman was treated for small burns to her shoulder and neck and has been discharged from hospital.

The 18 year-old man suffered severe burns to his neck, face and shoulder and has also left hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening, but may be life-changing.
