Robber Foiled on Brackenbury Road

Threats of violence fail to persuade victim to part with ring

A 57 year old local woman refused to be intimidated by a robber who attempt to take her ring on Brackenbury Road last week.

The incident occurred on 4th Jully at about 5 minutes to eleven at night on the west footway around 80 metres south of Goldhawk Road. As the woman drove
into Brackenbury Road from Goldhawk Road she saw a man loitering alone at the junction. This made her feel uneasy and she drove around the block before returning and attempting to park. Seeing that the man was still there, she parked slightly further south. As she got out of the car she was confronted by the suspect who demanded ‘Give me your ring!’ but the woman refused to do so.

In a calm, quiet voice (with no discernable accent) the suspect repeated his demand. Again, she refused. The man stepped closer to her causing the woman to step backwards and he said into her face ‘Give me your f*****g ring!’ She kept backing away but the man placed his right hand to his waist area. She told him ‘You’re not frightening me.’ At this point he lifted his jumper, and placed his right hand behind his belt buckle in a way that suggested he might have a weapon. At this point the woman decided to give him the ring but then a white Mercedes saloon turned into the road. As the car drew alongside, the suspect fled south along the west footway, taking the right fork into Dalling Road.

The suspect is described as a black male, aged 30 years, 6 ft 1 in., slim wearing grey/pink 3” horizontal stripped pullover, dark trousers and white trainers.
