Hammersmith offices of Gambling Company Shut
The offices of Betfair, the Hammersmith based betting exchange company, were closed last weekend after they received a phone call warning of a bomb in the building.
The company was forced to suspend transactions on their web sites for more than half an hour as their offices were evacuated.
The phone call came on Saturday lunch time (March 3rd) just prior to most of Saturday's key football and racing events. The police were called but the building was declared safe at 1.50pm and the sites were quickly back in action.
Police were called in following the call which made no mention of which office would be targeted and both buildings were evacuated.
Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin said: "Our first concern was for the safety and well-being of our staff, and given the non-specific nature, we had to evacuate both of our UK offices in London and Stevenage. Our head office was cleared by the police at approximately 1.50pm and Betfair resumed normal service as quickly as possible."
