Mugger strikes as she took short cut on Aspenlea Road
Police are asking for assistance in tracking down a mugger who threatened a woman with a broken bottle as he stole her handbag. In addition two men gave chase to the mugger and they have not yet come forward.
The incident occurred at 1.50am on 27th January. The thirty year old victim had been out drinking in the Shepherd's Bush area and was walking home along Fulham Palace Road. She took a short cut along Aspenlea Road towards her home address.
She was walking along the north footway when she saw the suspect walking towards her on the opposite side of the road. She was wearing her Ipod at the time but noticed the suspect had crossed the road and was walking towards her. He had a bottle in his hand, which he smashed on a small garden wall. He the approached her and pointed the broken part of the bottle towards her. He then grabbed her bag, which was on her left shoulder and pulled it away from her. The bag is described as a Gladstone type light brown leather handbag containing personal effects.
He did not say anything to her. She let the bag go and the male ran off in the direction of Lillie Road. Two other males saw the incident and gave chase but she could give no description of them.
The suspect is described as a 5ft 8in black male aged between forty and fifty years old. He has dark short hair although even in streetlight he has noticeable grey streaks in his hair.
