Contest highlights diversity of cafes and restaurants across the Borough
The Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham, Councillor Minnie Scott Russell, launched the 2007 'H&F Chef of the Year' competition during a reception last week for local businesses.
The reception, which also featured talks by the Mayor of Southampton on trade with China, and an overview of business opportunities by Council Leader Stephen Greenhalgh, was attended by over 200 guests representing a wide range of businesses including venue owners, food manufacturers, caterers and restaurateurs.
This year the competition will have categories ranging from full restaurant service and delicatessens to staff restaurants, schools and institutions as well as cafes serving breakfasts.
The Mayor said, "We are delighted to be running this competition, now in its second year. This year we have changed the rules to allow as many food outlets as possible to enter.
Not only does the competition promote healthy eating and hygienic preparation, but highlights just how good and diverse are the cafes and restaurants in our Borough."
