Routes 218 and 306 to launch in December running from Broadway to Acton
Transport for London has announced that Hammersmith is to have two new bus services before the end of the year.
The new 218 service will operate from Westbourne Park Garage and will run from Hammersmith Bus Station towards North Acton via King Street (and Glenthorne Road on the return journey), Paddenswick Road and Askew Road as far Uxbridge Road.
The 218 will commence operation on 7 December, using single decker buses operated by Tower Transit. It will run every 10 minutes during Monday to Saturday day times, and every 15 minutes during Sundays and all evenings.
Route 306 also is set to start operation in December and will run between Sands End in Fulham and Acton Vale, via Hammersmith town centre.
From Sands End it will follow the route of the current 391 service, via Townmead, Imperial and Harwood Roads to Fulham Broadway, via North End Road and Hammersmith Broadway to Hammersmith Bus Station, then via King Street and Askew Road to Acton Vale, running every 12 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytime and every 15 minutes during Sunday and all evenings using double-deck vehicles.
Transport for London says these new routes are part of a major programme of improvements to outer London bus services - the biggest investment in over a decade.
They are aiming to make sustainable travel easier for outer London residents, helping to achieve the Mayor's ambition of 80% of trips made by bicycle, on foot or by public transport by 2041.
Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor for Transport, said: "This boost to outer London routes, together with more frequent, direct services, is all part of the Mayor's commitment to provide a good public transport experience for all Londoners."
