Residents' group angry that new route plan is proceeding
The Blythe Road Action Group are claiming that Transport for London and the Mayor are intending to ignore the results of a consultation which showed that residents were firmly against their plans to extend a bus route into the area
77% of local residents had declared themselves against the scheme for the new C1 bus route, which is also opposed by MP Greg Hands, GLA member Angie Bray and councillors of every political shade both in Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham. The Olympia Exhibtion Hall has also expressed opposition to the scheme.
BRAG say that although the idea for a service between Victoria and Acton is a good one, the route chosen by TfL for the bus is absurd and even they admit that using the existing bus channel on Holland Road would make for faster and cheaper travel. They believe that the only reason the circuitous route around Blythe Road and the local one way network has been devised, is to meet TfL's own arbitary targets.
Following the publication of an article in the Evening Standard by Catherine Ostler, the chair of the residents' group, Olivier Barbé is urging residents to contact the press to voice their opposition.
