Police are appealing for information and witnesses after four pedestrians were injured - one critically - following a serious road traffic collision in West Kensington.

These dramatic pictures, taken by onlooker Srivinas Namilikonda @dieseldilse show the horrific scene on North End Road.

Witnesses said the 19 year-old driver of the car involved had been celebrating her birthday before the collision as she turned from North End Road into Mund Street at about 6.45pm.

An 18 year-old onlooker, who claimed to be a former schoolmate of the driver, told the Evening Standard: "She was driving from McDonald’s celebrating her birthday and came round the bend at about 60mph.

"She swung on to the pavement and into one guy, who slammed into the windscreen. He flew up in the air and landed on his head.

"The driver then skidded into another man. Two more people were smashed into railings. There’s so much blood everywhere — it’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen."

Other witnesses described the scene as a "battlefield" as members of the public, including three medical students, helped paramedics tending to the wounded on stretchers.

Police say they were called by London Ambulance Service shortly before 6.45pm on Wednesday, 23 November to the junction of North End Road with Mund Street, W14 to a report of a car in collision with a number of pedestrians.

They say at this early stage, it is believed that the car - a black Audi A3 - was travelling along North End Road when it became involved in a collision with the victims as they crossed the road.

The four pedestrians - a 56 year-old man and three men in their twenties - were taken to hospital for treatment.

The 56 year-old and two of the men in their twenties are in a non-life threatening condition.

The third man, aged in his twenties, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The car involved stopped at the scene.

A 19 year-old woman was arrested by officers on suspicion by causing injury by dangerous driving. She is currently in custody.

A female passenger who was in the vehicle involved received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
