New competition for amateur snappers offers £500 prize
Take your camera onto the streets of Hammersmith, and you could win a prize of £500.
The new competition, called Capture Hammersmith aims to encourage everyone who lives and works locally to take a fresh look at their surroundings.
A gallery displaying the pick of the pics is already on show on the Capture Hammersmith website where you can also find the full competition rules. Entries are via Instagram.
There are three categories: people, nature and architecture. Prizes will be awarded for the best picture in each, with a £500 voucher for the overall winner.
There will be an exhibition of pictures later in the year, with a shortlist being chosen by Alex Saberi, a National Geographic photographer, and the winners being picked by public votes.
You can enter as many times as you like, but it is aimed at amateur snappers, not professionals. The competition is also open to all ages, though under 16s need to have parent of guardian consent.
"We want to make this an annual tradition to celebrate Hammersmith," says Edward Finlay, director of Willmotts estate agency in Blacks Road, Hammersmith, which is organising the competition.
The closing date for entries is 30 November.
