New Landmark Starts to take Shape at 245 Hammersmith Road
Building will provide office and public space including urban park and plaza
Construction has begun on a new landmark building at 245 Hammersmith Road, which is set to include a new public plaza and urban park.
The new £200 million scheme, owned by LGIM Real Assets and Mitsubishi Estate is now taking shape after the demolition of Bechtel House, one of Hammersmith's most prominent office buildings, which was formerly on the site.
LGIM Assets hope that new green spaces being created by the project will transform this area of Hammersmith as they will
be open to the public, offering restaurants, retail and a new public plaza and
a secluded urban park.
The new building, which already has planning permission from Hammersmith & Fulham Council, will consist of a basement, ground and 11 upper storeys and extensive public space, including the urban park and plaza fronting Hammersmith Road.
It also includes four shop or leisure units and a cafe in the the lobby and is expected to create up to 2,000 local jobs.
After acquiring the building in 2012, Legal and General Property were given planning permission in November 2015 for a complete revamp, designed by architects Sheppard Robson.
In June last year, Legal & General Property (LGP) sold a 50% stake in the £275m scheme to Mitsubishi Estate London.

The scheme is expected to be completed in 2019.
