The Moat School

A place where pupils can excel in their academic education

The Moat School, based in Bishop’s Park, Fulham, has celebrated the first year of its Lower School programme. This independent school specialises in providing a mainstream education for pupils diagnosed with a SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulty) such as Dyslexia or Dyspraxia but it also provides a home for pupils who have difficulties finding success in a traditional educational environment.

Since 1998 The Moat School has provided a place where pupils can excel in their academic education, receiving the extra help and support needed to access the curriculum. Difficulties such as Dyslexia are catered for, but are not the only focus. Underlying difficulties are addressed in a way that allows all pupils to maximise their potential, and find success in their future endeavours. Clare King, Headmistress, says "The Moat School is mainstream in structure, specialist in nature”.

Following 20 years of success at Secondary level, in September 2016 the school opened its doors to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. The Lower School curriculum is consistently engaging and fun, allowing pupils in these groups to overcome their initial barriers and gain a passion for learning. The central ethos is that early intervention results in early remediation.

Lower School parents commented “Our child has settled extremely well as a result of the excellent procedures and practices in place” and “Our daughter has already had a tremendously positive boost to her confidence and overall contentedness. She loves the school! And we are tremendously impressed with the attention and understanding of the entire Moat team”.
The Moat School is now taking application for starters aged 9-10, lower school groups will remain very small class sizes in order to get more face time with each pupil, so it is advisable to get in touch with The Moat School as soon as possible.

The Moat School will open its doors for an open day on May 17th and anyone interested in the chance to catch a glimpse of life within The Moat should email the school office and reserve a place.
