Find Out About Plans for 130 'Genuinely Affordable' Homes

Council and developer show off concept at funday on Saturday

Local people are inviting to visit a funday on Saturday September 24 to find out more about plans for over 130 "genuinely affordable" homes in the area.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council says it is working together with developer Stanhope to replace a derelict housing block with new homes for local people – the vast majority for social rent.

If the plans go ahead, Edith Summerskill House on the Clem Attlee Estate in Fulham will be demolished and rebuilt prioritising local residents for the new low-cost homes.

You can find out more about the concept at a community funday from noon to 4pm on Saturday. There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, sports, music and food to enjoy. All are welcome to the free event at the Clem Attlee Community Hall on the estate where you can have your say on the plans.

You’ll also be able to find out more about the opportunities and jobs the development will provide for local people, as well as other employment opportunities in the area.

"We want to see more homes for local residents, not overseas investors," says Cllr Andrew Jones, H&F Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Development.

"This is why we’d like to see every single one of the 133 homes we want to build genuinely affordable. And the development would provide work for local people."

Four out of five homes are proposed to be for social rent. The rest would be for low-cost home ownership or rents well below private sector levels.

The consultation will continue later this month. The details will be on display at the Clem Attlee Community Hall on Wednesday 28 September and at the Brunswick Club in Haldane Road, Fulham, on Monday 3 October. You can find out more about the plans by contacting development officer Nerissa George at nerissa.george@lbhf.gov.uk or 020 8753 6511.

For questions about employment opportunities in H&F you can get in touch with the Work Zone at recruitment@workzoneonline.co.uk or on 020 8753 6773.
