Five Guys to Take Over Site on Fulham Broadway

Burger chain to move in after closure of rival Byron

Hamburger chain Five Guys is set to take over the site on Fulham Broadway recently vacated by rival chain Byron.

The company has submitted an application to install a new shopfront and new signs at 11 Bank Buildings, which has been empty since Byron suddenly closed earlier this month.

In the application planning consultants Firstplan say the changes are 'minor but necessary', adding: " The overall scheme simply seeks to repaint, make good and replace like for like panels to the bottom of the shopfront and end bay window.

"These alterations have previously been found acceptable by the Council and it is considered the same conclusions should be made again now. The alterations to the shopfront will ensure an attractive unit that does not adversely impact the host building or conservation area setting."

Byron has had a difficult year in 2019, with a string of closures. Its departure follows the closure of Gourmet Burger Kitchen on the other side of the road at the end of 2018.

Five Guys was first launched in Arlington, Virginia in 1986 by the Murrell Family, who did indeed have brothers in the family, with a simple formula - burgers and fries, cooked to perfection.

The chain has since spread to almost 1,500 locations across America, the Middle East and Europe including nearby branches in Kings Road, Westfield London and South Kensington.

If permission is granted, as expected, the restaurant is set to open early in 2020. You can see what's on offer from Five Guys here.
