Chimayo Brings Tex-Mex with Italian Twist to Kings Road

Launching as predecessor Mare Moto is prosecuted for causing noise nuisance

The international menu promises Tex-Mex food with an Italian twists and includes Spanish Tapas, Tex-Mex Tacos, Peruvian Burritos and Brazilian Picanha - steaks made with Argentinian Beef served with Mexican Spicy Rice or Yuka Chips.

For those seeking something closer to home, there are authentic Neapolitan Pizzas using homemade sourdough and baked in a wood burning oven and gluten-free and vegetarian options are available.

As well as serving lunch, dinner, drinks and coffee, Chimayo includes a nightclub which is open until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights.

Chimayo's launch comes as its predecessor Mare Moto pleaded guilty to nine offences in a prosecution by Hammersmith & Fulham Council after causing noise nuisance to neighbours by operating outside its licensed hours.

The council took action after complaints were received from neighbours about late night noise, and antisocial behaviour at Mare Moto.

The council prosecuted Ross Inn Ltd, which pleaded guilty to nine breaches of its licence, at a hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court.

The offences related to selling alcohol, providing entertainment, and using an outdoor terrace outside of permitted hours, as well as other restrictions on admittance to the premises.

The court heard that the bar had repeatedly played loud music, disturbing neighbours until 2am.

Ross Inn Ltd was fined a total of £7,750, and ordered to pay costs of £4,347, plus a victim surcharge of £130.

This was not the first ruling against the Ross Inn Ltd operating at Mare Moto, which was successfully prosecuted for licensing offences in 2013.

"We support a vibrant night time economy and are keen to work with bars and pubs to ensure they have good relationships with local residents, so it is disappointing that this premises did not heed repeated warnings," said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, Hammersmith & Fulham Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport & Residents Services.

"We will always do our best to protect residents when they are affected by anti social behaviour.

"When a bar breaks the rules, it is unfair both on local residents and on the vast majority of bars and pubs who obey the rules. That is why we took action, and we are pleased with the ruling."

Local residents are now hoping for a quieter life with the new restaurant taking over the site.
