New look for historic hostelry on Fulham Road where Chelsea first met in 1905
The Butcher's Hook at Stamford Bridge is officially reopening on Saturday 10 August after undergoing an extensive makeover.
Owner Greene King says 15 jobs have been created through the relaunch, following what it calls a 'six-figure' refurbishment for the pub, at 477 Fulham Road, opposite the main entrance to Chelsea Football Stadium.
The Butcher's Hook shares a long history with the club. The first meeting of Chelsea Football & Athletic Club was held in the pub, then known as the Rising Sun, on 10 March 1905.
Greene King says the new-look pub will boast trendy, modern, yet quirky interiors designed to enhance the pub’s existing features, from large, comfortable lounge spaces for dining to a revamped bar area.
Guests will be able to enjoy an extensive modern menu, offering everything from pub classics and tasty brunch dishes, to lighter bites and seasonal favourites. The venue will also offer a new drinks range – from national and local cask ales and a selection of craft beers.
The pub's general manager Leigh Tuohy says: "We’re incredibly excited to launch on Saturday 10 August and can’t wait to reopen the doors. The Butcher’s Hook is at the heart of the Fulham community and will continue to be a great destination for locals, whether you’re visiting us for a quick bite, long lazy lunch or a family get together.
“We have designed the pub to ensure it caters for everyone, making it a destination for a wide range of guests, whether they’re celebrating something special, joining us with the whole family or simply want a night away from the kitchen. We look forward to welcoming the people of Fulham soon."
The revamp comes at a busy time for pubs in Fulham. Two others have already reopened their doors following major refurbishments - Brook House and Aragon House, both on New Kings Road.
