Actor Stephen Mangan Backs Sulivan Primary School

While campaigners hope for reprieve following Labour victory

The 41-year-old actor, who is the voice of the cartoon character in Postman Pat: The Movie, visited pupils at the school this week and led them in a sing-along of the show's theme tune before a question-and-answer session.

And afterwards, the dad of two young sons who also currently stars in the TV series Episodes, tweeted on his account @stephenmangan: " Spent the morning at the fab Sulivan Primary talking Postman Pat. Shame it's being bulldozed to build a free school."

Campaigners fighting to save the school from demolition meanwhile, are hopeful that the planned closure of the school to make way for the Fulham Boys Free School may now be halted following Labour's victory in yesterday's local election, which meant it regained control of Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

The campaigners were among groups celebrating the news on Twitter this morning on their account @saveoursulivan.

Jacqueline Dunleavy @jackiedun summed up people's feelings, tweeting: " We can hardly believe it. Last minute reprieve. #teamsulivan still hanging in there."
