Former Community Centre Becomes Four Multi-Million Pound Homes
"Huge shell-loft houses" being created in Broughton Road building
The former Sands End Community Centre in Fulham's Broughton Road is being turned into four "huge shell-loft houses" priced between £2 million and £4.5 million.
Developer Verve Properties' description of the building does not mention its recent use as a library and centre for the local community but instead refers to its previous use as a laundry, saying: " The historic and iconic Loud & Western building, the former Sunlight Laundry, presents a truly once in a generation opportunity in south west London."
The developer says the four homes vary in size from around 2,000 sq ft to over 7,000 sq ft and adds: " The spaces have ceiling heights of over 3 m or are double volume. All will have outside areas and roof terraces. Externally they will be refurbished but internally left in their raw state for buyers to design the space exactly as they wish with total flexibility."
The four buildings are 59 Broughton Road, priced £3,350,000; 61 Broughton Road, priced £2,850,000; 63 Broughton Road, priced £4,500,000 and 65 Broughton Road priced £2,000,000.

These four homes are a change from the original planning permission, granted by Hammersmith and Fulham Council's Planning Applications Committee in October 2012, which gave the go ahead for Verve Properties to convert the building into nine three bedroom family homes.
The centre was one of nine "under-used" council buildings, also including Fulham Town Hall, sold off by the previous council administration. The sell-off also fitted in with its plans to centralise library facilities.
Local residents protested against the sell-off, forming an action group which presented a petition containing almost 7,000 signatures to the council.
