Sainsbury's Superstore Set to Open on May 13

New Fulham Wharf store now offering range of job opportunities

The long awaited opening of Sainsbury's new superstore at Fulham Wharf riverside development is set for May 13.

In the run-up to the launch, the supermarket is offering a range of job opportunities, with roles on offer including general and customer service assistants, groceries online shoppers and groceries online drivers. You can find out more about these jobs here.

The new store, which is within Barratt's Fulham Riverside on Townmead Road, will replace the existing smaller supermarket on the site. It is on the ground floor of the building amidst 267 new homes.

As well as the underground car park, the site will offer newly installed Pod Points for recharging electric cars.

The site on Townmead Road formerly consisted of derelict buildings and changed hands several  times before being bought by Sainsbury's in 2009.

Sainsbury's says the 80,000 sq ft sales area - 50% larger than the current store - will offer a wide variety of products, including Sainsbury’s popular food ranges, electrical and homeware goods as well as Sainsbury’s Tu range of clothing.

New food counters such as a deli, fish, meat and takeaway pizza counter will be included in the store as well as a brand new customer restaurant.

The supermarket says it continue to keep the old store in operation until the night before the opening of the new store. This then will be demolished over time to make way for another 196 new homes.

This will be the supermarket giant's fifth store in Fulham, alongside its town centre store on Fulham Broadway and three convenience stores.  In January it opened its latest convenience store just a few hundred yards from the new superstore on Wandsworth Bridge Road.
