Both restored by late morning, much to relief of residents
Residents across Fulham woke up on Thursday, 19 March to face power cuts and the reduction in their water supply from around 7.45am.
During the current crisis, many shared the same thought on Twitter: "That's all we need!"
UK Power Networks said they were investigating a major fault and hope to have restored power to all homes by 9am-10am.
They sayis: " An underground electricity cable faulted on our high voltage network, causing an area wide power cut."
And at 9.31am they issued this update: " Update at 09:31 - Thanks for bearing with us this morning. We appreciate the timeframe we advised is drawing near.
"Our staff are working as quickly as safely possible to restore power back to the 6750 properties still affected by the underground cable fault. Due to the inherent safety concerns working with live electricity, we have to wait until our staff can safely stop their work to update us with the latest. As soon as we hear from them, we'll update you. If you have any concerns, call our team on 08003163105."
The power was back to normal across SW6 by late morning.
Thames Water meanwhhile sent a team down to investigate the water pressure, saying on their website: "Thanks for letting us know about low water pressure and no water in the SW & W postcodes.
" Our specialist engineers are already on their way to investigate the problem, and they will be doing everything they can to get things up and running as quickly as possible.
" We’re really sorry if this has disrupted your day.
"
