Time to Celebrate the 1908 Olympics

Exhibition at Fulham Palace remembers White City games

When Italy pulled out of hosting the 1908 games due to the 1906 eruption of Vesuvius and the diversion of funds to rebuild Naples, London was put forward as host nation and had just 2 years to organise the games.

Britain and the USA dominated the 1908 games, with 56 and 23 gold medals retrospectively.

Items on display in this fascinating exhibition include posters, cards, badges, souvenir china, costume and  tickets.

The exhibition is now on in Bishop Sherlock’s Room, open Saturday to Wednesday from 1pm – 4pm through till September 12.
