Tropical hotspot opening in May being created on former car auction site

Fulham is to have London's first tropical island style Thameside urban beach, complete with a 20 metre stretch of white sand, palm trees and deckchairs - all created on the disused Fulham Motor Auctions site on the riverfront next to Wandsworth Bridge.

Neverland London will open on May 10 alongside the Thames, with street food on offer from a range of street food stalls and pop-up shops including Duck Truck, Taco Dave and Le Rac Shack and brunches at weekends.

There are also plans for regular live music.

Beachgoers will be invited to bring their own alcohol and either create their own cocktails using mixers from the Unleaded Bar or enlist the help of a Beach Butler.

As well as outside seating at communal tables or on deckhairs and daybeds, there will be brightly coloured beach huts which can be booked when the weather turns less than tropical.

Neverland London say: "Our mission is to turn frogs into Princes by finding unloved and unused spaces and turn them into unique, big and beautiful indoor/outdoor destinations.

"You can find your perfect spot at Neverland - a romantic alfresco drink for two under the stars, weekend family brunch in the sun, or friends for a party vibe.  Eat, drink and listen to chilled music in the sun."

After launching on Wednesday 10 May, Neverland London will be open every Wednesday to Sunday until 3 October, from 6pm till 11pm during weekdays, midday till 11pm on Saturdays and midday till 9.30pm on Sundays.

Entrance to the beach costs from £5 and tickets are now available online.
