Meet the New Names on Kings Road

Showrooms open this month ahead of June summer street party

Spring is bringing big changes to Fulham's stretch of Kings Road with a number of new stores opening their doors this month "between the bridge and the bend".

The newcomers to the road, where many of the stores are part of the Chelsea Design Quarter, include two specialists in luxury bathrooms, Drummonds, which has just opened its showroom at 642 Kings Road on the site former home of Spanish restaurant La Rueda and American company Waterworks which has opened its first UK showroom at 579 - 582 Kings Road.

They will shortly be joined by luxury fabric and wallcovering specialist Fardis and carpet and rug company Loomah which have adjoining showrooms directly across the road from Waterworks.

Further west on the corner of Kings Road and Waterford Road is the new showroom of handcrafted sofa specialist Parker and Farr which is celebrating its launch by running a competition for local people called #tweetheseat.

In the window is the Oscar sofa, inspired by a love of all things botanical and upholstered with the Christian Lacroix Belles Rives fabric collection, and one lucky Tweeter could win everything on display. Running until 23rd May, all passers-by need to do is follow Parker and Farr on Twitter and take a picture of the sofa with the hashtag #tweettheseat.

The winner will be announced online on 25th May, and one entrant will get the chance to bring hand-crafted luxury home. To be in with a chance of winning, follow Parker and Farr on Twitter @parkeradfarr.  You can find the terms and conditions of this competition here.

This burst of activity comes ahead of the Chelsea Design Quarter’s first Summer Street Party, taking place on Wednesday June 4 from 6pm till 9pm.

This is a unique opportunity to spend a relaxed evening having fun and browsing around this popular Design Quarter. The showrooms will be open late and the hub of the party runs from the Fulham stretch of the King’s Road.
