Residents flee building as fire breaks out in Lebanese restaurant
London Fire Brigade says around 16 people left the building before the fire engines arrived and no one was injured.
However, part of the restaurant, which is on the ground floor of a nine storey building on Imperial Wharf's main boulevard was damaged.
Station Manager Julian Spooner, who was at the scene reported: " The fire is in the restaurant’s ventilation system, also known as the ducting, and has damaged part of the ground floor.
" Firefighters did a good job to contained the fire to the ground floor of the building."
Imperial Wharf resident Guy Harrington, who lives above the restaurant and snapped the firefighters in action, says the fire was "pretty intense."
Local police officers also attended the fire and reported on their Twitter account @MPSHammFul: "We have responded to support London Fire Brigade at a 6 pump fire at Imperial Wharf, SW6. Not believed to be any injuries. "
The Brigade says it was called at 1.11pm with fire crews from Kensington, Fulham, Wandsworth, Clapham and Hammersmith fire stations at the scene, and the fire was under control by 2.53pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
