What's On in January at Fulham Palace


Return of Youth Panel and Young Archaeologists' Club

January sees the return of two popular activities for young people - the Young Archaeologists' Club, or YAC, and the Youth Panel, plus a free drop-in archaeology session for all ages.

Here's the schedule:

Saturday 21 January, 10.30am-12.15pm  - Young Archaeologists’ Club – Termly Membership

Discover the fascinating world of archaeology through practical hands-on sessions with qualified archaeologists and skilled craftspeople.

The sessions on offer this term are:
Saturday, 21 January – Recording and Photographing Artefacts
Saturday, 18 February – Discovering the Neolithic Era in Fulham
Saturday, 18 March – Mummification
Saturday, 15 April – The Roman Way of Life
Suitable for 8 to 16 year olds, young people attend independently.

Saturday 21 January, 2pm-4pm - Youth Panel

Join the panel each month for a host of fun activities and the opportunity to learn new creative skills! If you like arts and history, want to meet new people or just want to get involved in something creative in your local community, then come along and have a go!

On offer this term:
21 January: An artistic printing techniques workshop in January
18 February: Exploring food through time – including the chance to try some weird and wonderful dishes!
18 March and 15 April: themes to be decided in conjunction with our youth panellists’ interests. Watch this space and check back for further details!
Young people attend independently and session places are limited so they must be signed up to secure their place.

Sunday 22 January, 1pm-3pm - Hands-on Archaeology



Come along to this drop-in session for a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Fulham Palace's archaeological finds and learn more about the rich and varied history of our ancient site.
Free, no booking necessary. Suitable for adults and children of all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Monday 23 January, 2pm-3pm - From Fulham to Lambeth: Bishops of London who became Archbishops of Canterbury

Around a sixth of the 105 men to hold the office of Archbishop of Canterbury have previously been Bishops of London. This illustrated talk by Matti Watton, Archivist at Lambeth Palace Library, will showcase items relating to them, from Mellitus in the 7th century to Geoffrey Fisher in the 20th.

Regular tours of the palace and Palace Explorers for toddlers also continue on these dates:

Monthly Historical Tours - Sunday 15 January and 22 January at 12.30pm and Tuesday 17 January at 2pm

Join the Palace Explorers, weekly parent/carer and toddler sessions for children aged 2-4.

£4 per child, which includes a drink and healthy snack, booking essential.Booking essential, tickets are available for individual sessions on a first come, first serve basis. For a ticket, please email education@fulhampalace.org up to one week before the session you would like to attend.
