Highlights include weekly Art Marquee sessions and Shakespeare on the lawn


The Art Marquee

Get creative at the Art Marquee every Wednesday in August. Each week it will offer a different theme and the opportunity to learn an exciting new technique - from pottery to printmaking, food design and 3D construction.

Wed 3 August, 1pm-4pm
Pizza Toppings - take inspiration from the palace's beautiful gardens and have the opportunity to
grow your own herb pot. Encounter a very unusual supermarket experience as you hunt down herbs and vegetables in the secret Walled Garden, use
the garden’s fresh and tasty produce to decorate your own pizza to take home and bake!

Wed 10 August, 1pm-4pm
The Art Marquee: Art Archaeology – Clay
Gather inspiration from the palace's archaeological finds, with the chance to make your own ‘good luck’ pottery! Animal shaped pots (such as the real example in the Palace museum) were popular symbols for health and good luck in the Medieval Period. This hands on workshop will explore this historical craft and teach you the basic skills of how to work with clay.

Wed 17 August, 1pm-4pm
The Art Marquee: Tudor Bling – 3D
Join the recreation of the Palace’s Tudor Courtyard in 3D miniature! Use a range of materials as you learn how to construct and bring your artwork from 2D into the third dimension complete with a mini fountain for the centre of your masterpiece.

Wed 24 August, 1pm-4pm
The Art Marquee: The Tudor Palace – Printing
This week make like the Tudors using print making to create our own unique works of art in the form of wallpaper. Find your inner Tudor artist as you design and handcraft your own limited edition Tudor-inspired decoration to take home.

Wed 31 August, 1pm-4pm
The Art Marquee: WWI
Did you know Fulham Palace was a hospital during World War One?! Hard to believe that the café, museum and library were once full of beds, soldiers and nurses. Get to know about the Palace’s role in WWI as you craft a matchbox bed for your own mini soldier to sleep in, complete with authentic bedding!

Tickets for each session £2 per child, no booking necessary. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Activities are suitable for children of all ages 3+, with extended skill options available for older children and young adults.

Sat 13 August, 2pm - The History of Bishop’s Park
Formed from meadows once belonging to the Bishop of London’s estate, discover the Park’s fascinating history on this guided walk.

Thu 25 August, 7.30pm - A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Five couples – three human, one fairy, and one mythical – find their relationships sorely tested, intimately probed and indecently exposed when a troupe of amateur theatricals bumble into the forest to rehearse a play.

Add to this bawdy mix a heady brew of confusion, magic and mischief, and you have the most perfectly frothy comedy for a moonlit summer evening. This production sees Illyria reprise the show it performed in its very first year.

Although this is an adult performance children are permitted if supervised. Suitable for ages 5+.
Gates open at 7pm. The performance will include a 20 minute interval.

Mon 29 August, 1pm-4pm - Wild Capital Road Show
Examine fascinating details of nature through microscopes and gaze into a minibeasts tank at our marquee of wildlife discovery.
Free, no booking necessary. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Thu 4 August, Thu 18 Aug, Sun 28 Aug, 2.30pm-3pm - Garden Walk

Join this tour of the Fulham Palace garden and discover more about its history and the rare plants grown at the Palace today.

The garden has a long and fascinating history dating back to the Tudor period when Bishop Grindal introduced the tamarisk to England through to Bishop Compton’s famous collection of plants in the early 1700s.
