Open air concerts with stars from Cuba and New Orleans
This is Summer Jazz Weekend at Fulham Palace, hosted on the Palace lawns in partnership with the renowned 606 Club
Now in its third year the weekend's line-up offers two remarkable artists performing under the stars – from Cuba, the Sugar Kings and from New Orleans, Ms. Lillian Boutté.
The Sugar Kings
Friday July 16, 7.30pm, Main Lawn
Driven by the spirit of 1950s Cuba, the Sugar Kings present old school salsa with a fiery modern sound. Band leader Flavio Correa and Musical Director Ray Crespo pave the way for their dynamic and talented team to entertain with the music of Latin America. A hugely experienced eight piece band featuring both timbales and congas as well as violin, flute and of course vocals, this steaming band plays music that brings Cuba to life right here on the main lawn of the Palace. Perfect for lovers of Latin and Jazz alike.
Saturday July 17, 7.30pm, Main Lawn
Lillian Boutté featuring Denny Ilett (guitar)
The brilliant New Orleans singer Ms. Lillian Boutté has been on the music scene for more than 30 years and is a monument to Jazz, Gospel and R&B. She has performed and recorded with a myriad of legendary musicians and has quite literally travelled the world performing her brand of New Orleans Jazz and R&B. Named "New Orleans Musical Ambassador" in 1986, Lillian has been touring almost non-stop for the last 18 years and with the help of 17 albums featuring jazz, pop, blues, soul and gospel has striven to convey the unique atmosphere of New Orleans’s.
A fabulous singer who blends all that is best in Jazz, Gospel and R&B in one high energy, enormously entertaining package, the band Lillian leads also feature one of the UK’s finest guitarists, Denny Ilett.
