Learn its history and find out about restoration works
The Moat of Fulham Palace, once the longest in England, if not in Europe, is our borough’s only scheduled ancient monument.
There have been recent restoration works including the exposure of the 17th century sluice and excavation of the first substantial section since the moat was filled in during the 1920s.
During the latter, timbers were found near the entrance bridge – possibly the remains of another dating back to the late 13th century.
This fascinating guided walk will last up to 2 hours and be led by Keith Whitehouse, a Group Committee member. He carried out the first exploratory excavation with Fulham Archaeology Rescue Group in 1972, and is an acknowledged local expert on all aspects of the moat, its history and its environs.
The event is open to all.
