Fulham Deaf Football Club Celebrate Most Successful Season

Promotion, two national trophies and team members selected to play in World Cup

Fulham Deaf Football Club are celebrating their most successful season to date, with a historic triple triumph - becoming both English and British Deaf Cup Champions and winning promotion to Surrey Intermediate Division Two.

Days after securing their promotion from Surrey Intermediate Division Two, the team beat Glasgow DFC 3-0 in extra time on May 7 to claim the British Deaf Cup.

Days later on May 12, they were crowned English Deaf Cup champions after beating St Johns DFC 2-0.

For the team, who are supported by the Fulham FC Foundation this has been their best season since their formation in 2003.

Now eight members of Fulham Men’s squad have been selected to represent Great Britain Deaf Football in the Deaf World Cup 2016, the single largest contingent of players from any one deaf club.

The Deaf World Cup kicks off in Italy on June 19 and the Gb Deaf Mens Football Team are now trying to raise £25,000 to fund their expenses.

On its JustGiving page the team say: " Great Britain Deaf Football is a completely voluntary and self-funded organisation relying on donations and fund raising activities and this will be the first time GB Men has competed in newly formed Deaf World Cup (3rd tournament since being formed in 2008). Your contributions and support would be very much appreciated.

" The money raised will be spent in 2 ways -

to support our preparations for the 2016 Deaf World Cup with training weekends/matches in the build up to the competition
to help the team to pay for costs of playing in the 2016 Deaf World Cup e.g. flights/ hotels/ physiotherapy.

" With the donations, we will be aiming to get to the final and win the gold medal."

You can follow the team's progress on their website.
