Local firms aim to cut costs, reduce crime and improve local area
Fulham Broadway BID, or Business Improvement District, has set out its plans for the year ahead.
The BID started work on 1 October 2018 following a successful ballot in July 2018, when 70 out of 111 local firms said yes to it being set established.
BIDs are associations of local businesses, providing the opportunity for them to invest and have a direct say in the management of the area.
Hammersmith Town Centre already has a BID called HammersmithLondon and you can find out more about its work, including its annual Summer Festival in Lyric Square at HammersmithLondon.
Since October, a board of directors has been appointed representing local businesses from each size, sectors and geographical area of the district. A project manager will work on the businesses behalf to deliver projects. The manager will report to the board every other month.
In early 2019 a survey will be undertaken to establish business attitudes and aspirations for the area. This is your chance to have a say in how the area develops.
By April 2019 a detailed business plan will be signed off by the BID board for year one activities, and the first AGM will be held in early 2020.
In the longer term, the BID says local businesses together will contribute £1.6m over the next five years which will be spent solely on improving the local business environment.
The BID's five year priorities are:
Shared collective purchasing to reduce business costs
Reducing crime and antisocial behaviour
Understanding and representing the needs of the business community
In the longer term, the BID says it will deliver improved public realm, high profile events and destination marketing to build a strong brand, attracting customers from across London.
You can find out more about the BID and how you can get involved on the website and the BID prospectus.
