Lewis guilty of criminal damage but cleared of gun charge
But Arlten Lewis, 20 was found not guilty of threatening a teenager with a gun.
Lewis had been accused of brandishing a gun outside a house in Huntly Grove, Peterborough on January 9 during a row over drugs with with Ryan Graham, 19.
The jury cleared Lewis of this charge, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, but he was sentenced to 13 months at a young offenders' institute after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to charges of criminal damage. The earlier hearing was told he threw a brick through a window during the dispute on January 9, and was found in possession of a knife when he was arrested by armed police on February 3.
Judge Sean Enright told him: " You have repeatedly said you thought you were fully justified to throw the brick through the window. This was because you were angry at being sold a small amount of cannabis.
" I am told that the brick missed a baby in the house by a very small distance. You also knew there was another child in the house
" You have shown no remorse for this and at first I thought this was just bravado but I am now convinced that it is genuine. You also have shown no remorse for being found in possession of a knife."
During the trial, the court had heard contrasting reports about the relationship between Lewis and Mr Graham. Lewis claimed he was a painter and decorator who had been buying cannabis from Mr Graham over the last two years.
However, Mr Graham claimed that Lewis was a drug dealer who made him sell Class A drugs because he owed him money.
Lewis was sentenced to nine months for possessing the knife and four months for criminal damage. However, he has already served 181 days in custody following his arrest and this will count towards his sentence.
