Healthy Surprise for Fulham Palace Parkrunners

Co-op hands out recipe boxes to Saturday's runners and volunteers

Hundreds of hardy people braving the weather at last Saturday's Fulham Palace parkrun received a surprise treat as Co-op representatives handed out free recipe boxes containing healthy Co-op food products.

Fulham Palace parkrun takes place every Saturday morning and has grown in popularity, with a total of 636 people running, jogging or walking the course on Saturday 2 February.

Out of those, 116 were first timers and 93 recorded new Personal Bests.

Every parkrunner and the volunteers who help to organise the parkun received a goodie box containing recipe advice and inspiration.

Co-op Food is the first retailer to back parkrun UK, which supports volunteers in more than 520 communities around the country to coordinate free, timed, 5k events for runners and walkers every Saturday morning.

The Co-op team says that over the coming months it will be visiting many more parkrun across London and the UK to promote #HealthySwaps, a campaign to get as many people as possible to make a small change to their everyday lifestyle choices.

Co-op say they and parkrun share many of the same values and in particular their commitment to their communities and a passion for great quality, healthier food.
