South Park will come alive on Saturday 13 June as the Friends of South Park host their annual Picnic in the Park, a free community celebration packed with music, food and family-friendly fun. The event runs from 12pm to 4pm, inviting residents to bring their picnic rugs and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment in one of Fulham’s most loved green spaces.
Supported by Aspire, the day promises something for everyone. Live music will fill the park alongside a tempting array of food and drink stalls, including a barbecue, crepes, ice cream and a bar. Children can enjoy a funfair and a host of activities, while adults can browse local stalls, take part in games of football or pétanque, and try their luck in the raffle. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with organisers encouraging everyone to simply turn up and join in.
Adding extra excitement to the day is the Fun Dog Show, organised in partnership with Wolfe Vets. Running from 11.45am to 12.45pm, just before the main picnic begins, the show invites proud owners to enter their pets in light-hearted categories such as Waggiest Tail, Best Dressed, Scruffiest Dog, Cutest Face and Best Trick. There are also prizes for Best Behaved, Golden Oldie, Best Young Dog or Puppy and the coveted Best in Show, which will receive a special award from Wolfe Vets. Registration opens at 11am, with entry priced at £2 per category, and each class will be judged with help from local children.
The event has become a highlight of Fulham’s summer calendar, celebrating community spirit and the joy of outdoor life. With live music, delicious food, games and the ever-popular dog show, the Picnic in the Park offers a great way to spend what will hopefully be a sunny Saturday afternoon surrounded by neighbours and friends.
All are welcome, and entry is free. For details, visit Friends of South Park online or simply head to the park on the day — picnic rug in hand and tail wagging.
