Shakespeare in the Open Air

Midsummer Night's Dream at Fulham Palace

Popular touring theatre company Illyria return to Fulham Palace on August 9 to present Shakespeare's timeless comic masterpiece, Midsummer Night’s Dream.

In Illyria's own words, Midsummer Night's Dream is an effortlessly magical and gloriously silly comedy.  One young couple are hopelessly in love, another are in denial, a royal couple eagerly anticipating their wedding can't wait to get their hands on each other - and the fairy King and Queen hate each other.  Deep in the forest Puck makes a careless mistake and absolute uproar ensues.  Amidst the mayhem a group of earnest but talentless workmen start rehearsing a play about a tragically doomed love affair...Will the lovers sort out their confusions? Will harmony be restored?

Shakespeare’s timeless comic masterpiece explores every colour in the spectrum of love. Performed with a magical twist, Illyria’s production of this perennial Shakespeare favourite is passionate, poetic and very very funny. The play is suitable for all ages from eight upwards.

The evening will begin at 7pm and tickets cost £10 per person, children under 5 £5. With the help of the Lyric Theatre, Fulham Palace now has an extended hours dedicated ticket line which can be contacted on 0871 22 117 28. For online booking, go to Lyric Theatre bookings.
