Fulham Horticultural Society returns with its annual autumn show as part of a weekend of homegrown produce this September.
The borough’s green-fingered residents will compete for prizes at the show which returns after a hiatus during last year’s lockdown.
The longstanding London gardening society’s show is back at its regular home at St Etheldreda’s Church Hall, in Fulham Palace Road, on Saturday 11 September.
Open to visitors from 2pm to 4.30pm, the event will be a showcase of giant produce, unusual varieties of fruit and vegetables and fragrant flowers.
Almost 60 classes covering produce from onions, potatoes and carrots to rhubarb, raspberries and roses mean there are plenty of opportunities for all gardeners from the newest to the most experienced to show off their hard work.
Handcrafted items from cards and photographs to needlework and knitting will also be on display at the show, while visitors can relax with a cup of tea and slice of homemade cake.
The following day the Fulham Horticultural Society will be taking some of the autumn show’s top produce to the annual Chillifest event, a stone’s throw away in the walled garden at historic Fulham Palace.
Running from 11am to 3pm on Sunday 12 September in the grounds of Fulham Palace, in Bishop’s Avenue, the event will include chance for visitors to try out the spicy peppers for themselves.
There will be live music from seven-piece Latin jazz group Banda Bomba, chilli tasting and display.

Featuring up to 50 different varieties of chillies on show, ranging from the mild no-heat Trinidad Perfume chilli pepper, through to habanero and Scotch Bonnet varieties to the extreme Ghost chillis, the event aims to put the spice into September.
Alongside the tastings, there will be homegrown chillies and chilli sauce for sale, and a chilli expert on hand.
Come and see at the gigantic specimens of the Fulham Palace Meadows Allotments Association in the heaviest veg competition or get top tips on growing perfect plants from a band of horticultural experts.
