Can You Help Fulham Get That Festive Feeling?

Stalls available to local businesses at St John's Christmas Market

Fulham's traditional Christmas festivities will officially begin on Friday, December 3 outside St John's Church on Walham Green.

Alongside the annual ceremony to switch on the Christmas lights and carol singing around the Christmas tree, Father Christmas himself will be ready to receive local children in his grotto.

St John's Christmas market will begin at 3.30pm offering mulled wine, tombola and grand prize draw as well as dozens of stalls selling all sorts of seasonal crafts, gifts and edible goodies.

For local businesses who want to be in on the action, there are still some stalls available for hire in the market, priced £20 each. For more information, call Jenny on 07947 376194 or the parish office 0207 385 7634.

The market and switching on of the lights is the start of a weekend of fun in Fulham. On Saturday, December 4, there is a village Christmas Fair and Market on Parsons Green, which is presented by Pippa Popins Nursery Schools and is in aid of two children’s charities - the WellChild Charity and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The fair is open from 11am till 5pm and includes live reindeer found grazing in Father Christmas’s Winter Wonderland, next to a Galloping-Horses Carousel.  There are a Stilt-Walking Jack Frost and Snow , a festive Punch & Judy and Face-Painters will keep little ones entertained, as well as a large selection stalls with gift ideas for all the family.

Festive food includes hog roast sandwiches, sizzling sausages, hot soup, mulled wine and mince pies, along with the aroma of roasted chestnuts and chocolate filled crepes. At dusk, the day ends with a magical candlelit carol service around the Christmas tree, accompanied by The Fulham Brass Band.
