Brompton Cemetery Chapel is launching its first art exhibition since lockdown in 2020 with LUX by Hannah Luxton.

The venue reopens from 11am-3:30pm daily from4-11 December.

Hannah will be presenting over 20 of her oil paintings in the Chapel. The professional artist describes herself as working in the visual realms of surrealism and minimalism, within themes of spirituality, the cosmos and the natural sublime.

She is a Slade School of Art (UCL) graduate from 2012 and regular exhibitor in the art scene in London, including this year’s Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy and the nearby JGM Gallery in Battersea.

She says, “The exhibition will be a positive, and rare experience. My paintings are meditative, thought provoking and emotive. The connection of the paintings with the chapel is special and unique - they both radiate peace and tranquillity together. The paintings I hope will compound the overwhelming feelings of beauty and omnipotence that one is overcome with when entering the chapel.”

The exhibition is called LUX, referencing the Latin word light, as the natural light flooding in through its domed ceiling will light the paintings in the most perfect and natural way.
