Hear About the Life of W S Gilbert at All Saints Fulham on 17 November

The current season of Music by the Bridge, a very popular series of free monthly evening concerts at All Saints Church, by Putney Bridge, comes to a close on Friday, 17 November.

Concerts run from 7.15pm till 8pm with doors open from 6.45pm. Refreshments are available at the back of church and there is a retiring collection to support choral scholarships at All Saints.

This month's concert is all about the life of W. S. Gilbert, who is today best known for his partnership with Arthur Sullivan. Together, they produced 14 much loved comic operas such as The Mikado and The Pirates of Penzance.

But WS Gilbert, who lived from 1836 to 1911, was also a dramatist, librettist, poet, illustrator and writer of short stories and theatre reviews.

The story of his life is written and narrated by Revd Canon  Michael Hampel, Precentor of St.Paul’s Cathedral, accompanied by music from singers Rachel Shannon, Anna Boucher and Ian Ritchie and pianist Rachel Wheeler-Robinson.
