West Brompton train station
May 28, 2026
A person has died after falling onto the tracks at West Brompton station on Wednesday lunchtime.
Emergency services were called to the station at around 12pm on 27 May following reports of a casualty. British Transport Police (BTP) officers and paramedics attended, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Their age and gender have not been released.
The incident led to the suspension of District line services between Earl’s Court and Wimbledon for several hours as officers sealed off the station and carried out enquiries. While trains have since resumed, Transport for London warned of severe delays across nine stops on the affected section of the line. Tickets were being accepted on local bus routes and South Western Railway services to help passengers complete their journeys.
In a statement, a BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called at around 12pm today (27 May) to reports of a casualty on the tracks at West Brompton Underground station.” The force confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The station, which serves both the Underground and London Overground networks, remained partially closed during the afternoon as emergency teams worked at the scene.
