Have Your Say on Proposed Changes to Burlington Road Area

Council consults residents on plans to improve safety by reducing through traffic

Map of proposed changes to roads in South Fulham

The council says: " We’re proposing to make some changes to reduce through-traffic in your area, reduce road danger, improve the environment and make your neighbourhood more pleasant."

The proposed changes, as shown above, affect Burlington Road, Rigault Road, Buer Road and Elysium Street.

The council says it would like to:

Close Burlington Road at the junction with Rigault Road. There will still be access for emergency vehicles
Close Elysium Street at its junction with New King’s Road to reduce cycle accidents
Remove the firegate at Rigault Road to improve accessibility - We need to do this because of the closure of the Burlington Road and Rigault Road junction and will allow vehicles access from Burlington Place into Rigault Road to its junction with Fulham High Street
Make the section of Burlington Road south of Rigault Road one way southbound
Construct a raised table outside no.1 Jubilee Terrace to reduce speed and improve safety approaching the primary school
Install road humps and a raised table on Buer Road to reduce vehicle speeds
Create one extra parking space in Burlington Road
Convert some single yellow lines to double yellow lines on Burlington Road.

You can see a full sized version of the map showing these changes here.

The council says it would make the changes on Burlington Road by introducing an experimental traffic order and then monitoring the results for approximately six-months, and then ask for your views again before deciding whether to make these changes permanent.

However, the council adds that it will only go ahead with the proposals if the majority of respondents support it, so please complete the consultation and give your views on the proposals.

You will find the consultation here.
