Free Swimming for Under 16s


Fun at Fulham Pools throughout August

Fulham Pools is offering free swimming to children under 16 throughout August.

Young swimmers do however need to register in advance, with a one-off fee of £1 for registration. Application forms are available at libraries, children's and leisure centres, or a form can be downloaded from Hammersmith and Fulham Council's website.

The free swimathon is funded by NHS Hammersmith & Fulham and supported by the council.

Dr Dagmar Zeuner, NHS Hammersmith and Fulham director of public health, said: "One of the best ways to combat childhood obesity is by getting youngsters interested in being active from an early age and we're all committed to achieving this.

"Swimming is great for your muscles, heart and lungs and is a fun way to let of steam - perfect for getting rid of excess energy.

"We know that saving money is a priority for everyone at the moment and combined with the summer holiday search to keep youngsters entertained, there is no better time to take advantage of this offer."

Children under 16, together with a parent or guardian, can swim for free at either Fulham Pools or Phoenix Fitness Centre in Shepherd's Bush from 10am to 12noon, seven days a week.

Those aged nine to 16 can swim for free unaccompanied at either leisure centre from 2pm to 4pm.

Free swimming is also available in either pool to adults over the age of 60.
