Pupils at local schools deliver excellent Key Stage 2 results
Primary schools in Fulham made a steady improvement yet again this year, according to published figures for the Key Stage 2 exams and assessments. For the third year running, the proportion of children achieving level 4 or above in KS2 reading, Writing and Maths tests increased in the area. At an average of 79%, the figure is comfortably higher for Fulham primary schools than for the rest of the country.
Improvement by 2 grades from Key Stage One to Two is considered by the Department of Education to be "expected progress" for pupils in this period. Locally, the proportion of children making such a progression was 93%, 92% and 90% in the Writing, Reading and Maths exams respectively: in each of these subjects, the local area is above the national average.
The most improved primary school, based upon the benchmark figure of the proportion of pupils achieving level 4 at KS2 English and Maths, was the Holy Cross RC school, which saw a rise from 67% in 2012 to 95% this time around. The school also managed to post an 100% record of children making 'expected progress' in Reading and Maths, something which Sulivan Primary also achieved in the KS2 Maths exam.
Another notable improved performer was Langford Primary, for whom the proportion of children achieving level 4 shot up from 41 to 62%. Three schools in the area can boast a full cohort of pupils who achieved their expected progression in the Writing assessment: Sir John Lillie, St. John's Walham Green CofE and Fulham Primaries.
The London Oratory School posted fantastic results across the board: as with last year, all of its students achieved level 4 or above in Reading, Writing and Maths tests, and 80% or more went on to attain level 5 in Reading, Maths and 'Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling' individually.
In terms of the proportion of students reaching level 5 in each subject, St. Augustine's RC and All Saints Cof E Primaries (in GPS), Holy Cross RC Primary (in Maths) and St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary (in the Writing TA) all recorded impressive scores.
These results represent a tremendous return for primary schools in the local area; congratulations to the teachers and, of course, the pupils involved!
