Catey for Fulham's Harwood Arms

Pub wins for offering Best Menu

Fulham's Harwood Arms pub has won the Menu of the Year award in the Cateys,  the Oscars of the catering world.

The pub, in Walham Grove, has built a reputation for its food since it re-opened in September last year as a joint venture between Brett Graham, the Michelin-starred chef of the Ledbury restaurant in Notting Hill, Mike Robinson of the acclaimed Pot Kiln pub in rural Berkshire and Edwin Vaux from the famous Vaux brewery.

The owners say they are aiming to provide a combination of the best of Berkshire with the sophistication of London.

The emphasis is on British produce with a typical menu, produced by ex-Ledbury chef Stephen Williams, offering choices such as Linkenholt Estate roe deer, Berkshire wood pigeon, Cornish cod and English lamb.

Puddings are also a speciality with dishes like Earl grey tea ice cream with Harwood Arms Garibaldi biscuits and English strawberries with elderflower jelly and sour cream sorbet.

Reviews from customers on the website seem to agree with the Catgey judges, describing the food as "out of this world" and the service "outstanding" while one satisfied diner called it "the best kept secret in London".
