Mary Portas Launches Living and Giving Shop in Parsons Green

Grand opening on Saturday for Save the Children store

The grand opening of the newest Mary's Living and Giving Shop on New Kings Road takes place on Saturday July 30 at midday.

This is the fourth in a chain of stores launched by Mary Portas, well known to TV viewers as the Queen of Shops, to raise money for Save the Children.

The new shop is at 28 New Kings Road close to Parsons Green.

The team at the store are also making a community appeal for enthusiastic volunteers to give some of their time, and good quality donations of clothes, artworks, homewares, books, crafts and curios.

Mary Portas meanwhile explains the concept behind the chain, which also includes shops in Westbourne Grove, Primrose Hill and Edinburgh.

She says: "Mary’s Living and Giving isn’t simply about shops - it's a life philosophy. It's a collaboration of people's ideas, beliefs and values.

"It's about people giving time, energy and passion and, most importantly, doing what they can.

"It is based on the idea of a co-operative, with community involvement at the heart of each shop.

"Living and Giving shouldn't just inspire the community, it should bring the community to life."
