Investigation launched after tip-off
Police digging up a garden in Alderville Road in Parsons Green have now found a body.
A statement from the police is being issued shortly.
Earlier, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said the investigation was launched following a tip-off from a member of the public.
The owner of the property, 58 year-old Roy Heath, is reported to be in hospital suffering from cancer, and to have already spoken with police.
A local resident in the Parson's Green street, where houses sell for over a milion pounds, said: "People have said they are looking for a body."
Another resident said that it was believed the excavation is related to something that happened a long time ago.
