New Bank Moves in to Fulham Broadway

Metro Bank will take over space left by Borders

The vacant space in Fulham Broadway shopping centre, left empty since Borders closed in December will be filled by one of the first branches of a new high street bank, Metro Bank.

The new bank, which was granted planning permission by Hammersmith and Fulham Council last month, uses the slogan Love Your Bank and aims to transform the face of banking in Britain.

" We believe that by providing unparalleled service and convenience, Metro Bank will stand out from other High Street banks," says chairman Anthony Thomson.

That means branches will be more like shops than traditional banks, open seven days a week with extended opening hours of 8am till 8pm. It will also have public loos and even biscuits and water bowls for doggy visitors!

Metro Bank eventually plans to open 200 branches across the country. It was granted a licence by the Financial Services Authority last week, and will open its first two branches in Gloucester Road and Holborn in spring.

A spokesperson says: " Fulham Broadway is among the confirmed locations for the second batch of branches, which will open a little later in the year."

Look out for Love Your Bank banners appearing in the windows on Fulham Broadway within the next few weeks.
