Supporters seen "swearing and gesturing" through windows
The sub-committee heard that the hotel, which is yards from Chelsea’s home ground, Stamford Bridge, had ignored calls from the police and the council’s licensing team to increase security and implement safety measures over the past two years.
The last straw for police, which sparked the review, was on February 13 when Chelsea played Cardiff in the FA Cup. Chelsea supporters in the hotel were goading the opposition by swearing and gesturing at them both outside the building and through the bar’s windows.
The new conditions are that on match days the hotel only supplies drinks in plastic bottles or glasses, that there should be two door supervisors there for three hours before the game and one hour after, and that the blinds in windows facing Fulham Road need to be pulled down.
The management must also make sure that no one leaves the premises carrying any drinks or bottles and that the front steps and forecourt to the hotel is kept clear at all times.
