Fulham Library Closes as Improvement Works Begins

Doors shut till Saturday as part of 22 week programme

Fulham Library has closed to the public for a week as part of a 22 week programme of improvement works.

The library will reopen on Saturday April 11 after the start of building works which will include essential maintenance and repair works well as redecorating and other improvements.

New carpets will be installed and the layout will be reconfigured with the Children’s Library moving to the front of the building. More self-service terminals will also be added.

Most of the work will be completed while the library is open. However for safety reasons, occasionally the library must be shut.

Librarian Vaso Proiou, who has worked at Fulham Library for ten years promises: “Visitors will notice we’ve had a spring clean.”

Vaso also thinks parents and visitors will like the new layout, which will include a more enclosed area for children to keep them from running off and make it easier to watch over them.

When the library reopens on Saturday, some sections, including the Teen Zone and the main adult lending area in front of the customer service desk, will remain cordoned off to allow for the next phase in the refurbishment.

The works are set to finish by May 21.
