Council Consults Residents on Parking in Hurlingham Park

Controls could be introduced to stop abused by commuters and cars being dumped

Residents living around Hurlingham Park off Parsons Green are being asked for their views on plans to improve parking.

H&F Council has launched a consultation asking local people for their views on proposals designed to discourage commuters from outside the borough from parking and to improve availability of spaces for people visiting the park

Currently there are no parking controls in the park, so the car park is open to abuse by commuters coming into the borough and by people abandoning untaxed, uninsured or stolen vehicles.

Earlier this year, H&F Council carried out surveys in the car park of Hurlingham Park which revealed an extremely high demand for spaces.

Many of those who wished to use the park’s sports and leisure facilities were unable to park easily and many parked vehicles were found to have been abandoned, or left by commuters from outside H&F while they are at work.

“We want to ensure that anyone who genuinely wants to use and enjoy the facilities in Hurlingham Park can do so,” said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Residents’ Services.

“To make this happen, we are suggesting several options for parking controls and would like to get feedback from residents and anyone who uses the park, on what they think would best work.

“We want to be the greenest borough in the country and key to this is preserving our green spaces for people to enjoy."

The consultation runs until Friday 18 November.
